This shot was taken a few years ago when we had one of the most active summers I have seen in Monterey Bay. While out whale watching we found a group of close to twenty Humpback Whales. Whatever direction you looked you would see several whales along with many sea lions and sea birds feeding on anchoviues. This mother and calf then came cruising past the boat right next to where I was and I managed to get this up close shot.
